How do I keep grass from spreading under a fence?
Set Grass Barrier on edge in a trench along the fence. The standard layout puts 6 in below the soil and 4 in above, so runners have to climb the lip, where you can see and trim them.

Which layout should I use along a fence?

How much do I order for a fence line?
Measure the fence line in feet and round up to the next 5 ft. The minimum is 20 ft, and one piece is up to 110 ft. For a longer line, order more than one cut and one Grass Barrier connecting kit for each joint.

Call 811 before you dig. Find the fence posts, their footings and irrigation too.
- 2Let the coil relax
Unroll it in the sun before you set it.
- 3Dig the trench
6 in deep for the standard layout, 8 in for low profile, or 10 in to set it flush.
- 4Set it on edge and backfill
Join two ends with one Grass Barrier connecting kit per joint, with the ends overlapped a little inside the clamps.
Under-fence questions
Will Grass Barrier stop every weed along a fence?
No. It helps keep grass that spreads by runners and rhizomes from crossing the line. Seeds that land near the fence still sprout, so plan to weed and trim along it.
Which way does the 10 in run?
Up and down. Grass Barrier is 10 in tall, top to bottom. In the standard layout, 6 in goes below the soil and 4 in stays above.
Can I trench beside fence posts?
Yes. Call 811 before you dig. Mark the posts, their footings and irrigation too, and keep the trench clear of all of them.
What goes in my cart?
